Slovakia, Slovakia, Slovakia.
How much I love you.
And yet, what your dry winter/spring air does to me!
It comes wafting and a’blowing without a care, ruffling and poofing my carefully cared-for care-free locks.
Aaah, what you do to me!
So I arrived in Slovakia at the end of Winter time, as the spring started its rejuvenating march across the land, and immediately, my hair started to suffer. It dried up so horribly that a gentle run through with my fingers would result in cackles and the snap of breaking hair. To make matters worse, I did not have my luggage with me, so blocked access to my store of natural hair products.
Cue in Drogerie 101, a delightful beauty supply shop, and I stumbled upon these.
I have come to believe it is utterly impossible to research products for growing healthy natural hair without running across Aussie products. specifically, Aussie Moist Conditioners and Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. Subsequently, excitement burned in my stomach when I stumbled on these,
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moisture Deep Treatment to infuse glorious moisture,
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Deep Treatment for damaged hair for a much needed protein treatment.
How I Used Them
Seeing as I had no other products, I decided to experiment a little.
I cleansed and clarified my hair, and then started off with the protein treatment. Applied it to my tresses for some minutes until my hair was soft and supple, rinsed it off, and then applied the moisture treatment for a few extra minutes. The moisture treatment is a bit of a lighter runnier consistency than the protein treatment, which is quite thick and creamy. The colors are a bit different as well, with the moisture treatment a lighter white as opposed to the creamy white of the protein reconstuctor. The smells are a little dissimilar as well, although I won’t say I’m a huge fan of either scents. Passable.
To experiment, I did not rinse that off completely. I left some conditioner on my hair ends for an extra layer of protection.
I was blown away by my results. Hair that was smooth and soft, thoroughly conditioned and moisturized. Even though my hair is very fine, it did not weigh it down at all!
To take things up a notch, in came my protective style of choice.
(I had baby Adam in my lap, can you tell?)
To conclude, I have been using these two for the last couple of months and I love them! When I was happily reunited with my luggage, I popped up these two extra products, my utter utter WONDERFUL whipped shea butter mix from Linelle’s, along with Alikay Naturals Dulce Hydrating Curl Lotion. I just love the smell of these two!
These are my power 4 products at the moment! This Shea Mix is an absolute essential for me. If you are in Ghana, lucky you, you can easily purchase from Linelle’s. (You can contact them on Instagram). You’re welcome! It’s my go-to skin treatment for locking in moisture after my baths as well.
If you’re in the market for very affordable hair products, give these a try and let me know how they work for you!
