As I write this, we have no electricity, and my battery is almost all gone… once again the dumsor dumsor has begun… well, at least we had electricity through the holiday season… Life in Ghana… and yet, despite it all, I have such high hopes for Ghana. I have such high hopes for us all.
It’s been a long-standing tradition of mine to write a loooong list whenever I write my goals (I bet some of you do that too!). Honestly, although it satisfied that ambitious part of me, it was really quite difficult for me to remember exactly what was on that list. After years of forgetting what is on my list and all the overwhelm of not even knowing where to start in order to accomplish some of them, I had had enough!
Last year, I made a shift and started to focus on the top three areas of my life I’d like to improve. From these areas I then made and worked on regular sub-goals throughout the year. See? Simple and easy peasy! Last year the areas were
- my relationship with God and my family
- my writing
- my education
Frankly, my life is so complicated right now that it’s been quite difficult to set some kinds of goals (eg travel.. having a family has its perks, but it has its downs too). However, I didn’t want to go entirely goal-less, so this is a good compromise!
This year holds so much promise! I’ve had my little angel, my energy levels are up, I feel amazing and ready to get into the thick of things. More vim! *flex muscles*
MY 2015 GOALS
This year the areas of my life I’m zeroing in on (apart from obvious ones like for eg my kids’ development) are my fitness, friendships and my writing.
How many of you are with me on this one?? Pretty countless, I bet! Ugh. I. need. to. lose. weight. Seriously! And more than that I’m seriously working on gaining back my abs; oh my poor six packs, where are you?!?!
For a start, I’m working out for at least ten minutes everyday as part of my morning routine. (I’ll make sure to post regular picture updates!)
Visit at least one friend every week.
Last year I didn’t hang out with my friends as much as I would have liked and I’d like to change that. It’s great that we are able to stay connected via social media but it’d be even better in person.
Write every day
Whether it’s on here creating for you and connecting with you, or offline in my ideabook or journal, I am writing and creating EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. because the best way to improve your writing is to practice practice practice everyday!
Here are some other fun goals I’ll be working on!
This has become such a great fun space for me to get creative, connect and inspire, and I’m loving it. It gets better and more fun this year, I promise!
Can you believe almost nothing in my wardrobe fits me anymore? I’m in this awkward phase where my clothes pre-pregnancy don’t fit anymore and I’m soooo tired of the maternity clothes. Not to mention my style has evolved and is evolving. You know the feeling when your wardrobe is full but you feel you have nothing to wear…yeah, that.
Develop some valuable skills.
It’s difficult to get specific on these ones for some reasons, but I’ll be working on photography, sewing and cooking skills this year. Hopefully I’ll have the chance to take some short courses for them sometime in the year.
My themes for the year are reinvention and growth.
2014 has been a valuable learning experience for me, and through the pain, tears and adventures I have learnt a lot! This is the year I totally reinvent my style, my work, my life. This year, we take more risks, stand firmer for what we believe in, grow in all areas of life, no matter how difficult, cultivate some new positive habits!
You know how in the movies the turning point comes and the hero/heroine takes that life-changing step, walks through the no-turning-back door and everything drastically changes?
I’m walking through that door, and there is no turning back…
Are you? Let’s go! 🙂
